Imagine a 3 year mission to Mars with only 2 years of food and an unreliable air and water supply
This is not science fiction. The first crewed mission to Mars is 2029 but current life support technology is insufficient

Pre-packaged Food has a 2 year shelf life
Water filtration requires many spare parts
Air regeneration efficiency is only 50%
CANgrow grows plants to provide fresh food, filter water and generate oxygen in space
A machine the size of a fridge is able to produce all the fresh food required by 4 astronauts. It recirculates all key inputs for maximum efficiency and is the first food production system for use in space to grow a plant-based protein.
This removes the need for pre-packaged food and by using plant transpiration to filter water, spare filters become tiny seeds. As a result, CANgrow is over 60% cheaper than existing technology. It won NASA and the Canadian Space Agency’s Deep Space Food Challenge in 2024.
Bioreactors produce plant-based protein
Plants provide fresh food, oxygen generation and water filtration
Recirculating all inputs in controlled environments optimize efficiency
The global space industry is predicted to be worth $2 trillion dollars by 2040
Our first customers are the 7 nation states and 4 private companies that have announced 14 crewed space missions in the next 5 years.
Upcoming Mars launch windows are in 2029, 2031, 2033, 2035, 2037 & 2040
The frequency and duration of missions are expected to continue increasing, driven by reduced cost to launch and the benefits of resource extraction, space based manufacturing and exploration.
Terrestrial applications can be found anywhere fresh food or clean water are scarce and our plant-based protein bioreactor technology offers a sustainable alternative to meat.
For example, Singapore imports 90% of its food each year, valued at $15 billion dollars. They plan to grow 30% of their food by 2030 through investing in new technology such as CANgrow.
